Sidura is an engineered Australian hardwood range, and it is now the core hardwood offer at Titan. What Sidura actually is
Sidura is engineered timber, not laminate and not a timber-look product. The board is built in layers with a real Australian hardwood surface, which is the part your foot touches and the part that carries the grain, the colour and the character of the species.
The layered construction is the point. Solid timber moves with heat and humidity, which matters in a Perth home that runs from a dry summer to a wet winter every year. An engineered board is built to hold its shape through that cycle while still giving you a genuine timber surface. You get the look and feel of the species without the movement that comes with a solid board.
The collection comes in three formats: Sidura 1-Strip, Sidura Herringbone and Sidura Herringbone Grande. The 1-Strip is the classic single-board look. The herringbone formats give you the angled pattern that used to be reserved for heritage homes and high-end interiors.
Which species and finishes are available
Sidura is built around Australian species rather than imported oak, which is the main reason it sits where it does in our range.
Blackbutt carries warm golden tones with a straight, even grain. It is the safest choice of the three for a contemporary build because it works with almost any cabinetry colour and does not fight with light walls. Available in gloss and in matt.
Spotted Gum is the character option. It runs through warm brown, golden and reddish tones with strong grain variation from board to board. If you want a floor that is clearly timber and clearly Australian, this is it. Available in gloss and in matt.
Tasmanian Oak sits at the pale end, blending cream, golden and light brown tones with a softer grain. It suits a build that is going for light and open rather than warm and grounded. Available in matt.
The gloss and matt versions of the same species read very differently once they are down. Gloss lifts the colour and reflects the light. Matt sits back, hides day-to-day marks better, and reads more natural. This is the single hardest thing to judge from a photograph, which is why samples exist.
How the boards are built
The Sidura 1-Strip board is 13mm thick and runs 1820mm long by 134mm wide, with roughly 1.219 square metres to a pack. It uses the Uniclic joining system, which is a click-together locking profile rather than a glue-down joint, and it carries a 25-year domestic warranty.
The 13mm thickness matters more than it sounds. A thicker board sits more solidly underfoot and sounds less hollow than the thin engineered boards that turn up in budget packages. You notice it the first time you walk across a room in bare feet.
Why swap out your builder’s standard inclusion
A builder’s flooring package is put together for turnaround and margin. It is not put together around what suits your house, your light or how long you plan to live there. That is not a criticism of builders, it is simply what a standard inclusion is for.
Choosing Sidura instead means you are getting a genuine Australian hardwood surface in a species you picked, in a finish you have actually seen, on a board built to handle a Perth climate. For most people it is the difference between a floor they tolerate and a floor they chose.
It is also stocked locally. Once you have decided, you are not waiting on a container from overseas before your build can move. On a build timeline that is often the difference between the floor going in on schedule and the floor holding up everything behind it.
